Every year National History Day frames students research within a historical theme. The theme is chosen for the broad application to world, national, or state history and its relevance to ancient history or to the more recent past. The 2019-2020 theme is Breaking Barriers in History.
Tupac Shakur was the most successful rapper during the 90’s. For a rapper whose career was only 5 years long, he had a very successful career. Tupac was influential in creating gangster rap ( hip-hop music with lyrics explicitly portraying the violence and drug use of American inner-city gang life) followed by Ice Cube. Gangster rap ended up being hugely controversial. He was shot in1996 five times at age 25 in Manhattan. He was revived seven times before his death. He never compromised his artistic vision.
